Here is a true heavyweight champion of the late 90s: the IBM ThinkPad 380XD. Released around 1998, this machine is affectionately known by collectors as a "tank" because of its incredibly solid, boxy build quality.
This was one of the first laptops to successfully integrate everything—the floppy drive, CD-ROM, and hard drive—all into the chassis at the same time, so you didn't have to swap out modules. It features the classic TrackPoint "red nub" mouse that ThinkPad fans swear by and runs on the Intel Pentium MMX processor (usually 233MHz or 266MHz).
One of the best features for retro gaming or file transfer is that the 380XD was one of the first in the 380 series to include a USB port, making it much easier to bridge the gap between retro and modern tech.
