This is a rare variety within the half dollar series. The “1” and “9” show the most significance of the overdate with the 1 showing another 1 to the left of it, and the 9 showing another 9 above it.

This Overdate Date Error was created as the result of a hubbing error. A working die was impressed with a hub dated 1893 and accidentally given two impressions from the same die.
