This is an Angenieux 100mm F4.5 lens, originally from a French medium format folding camera, modified for a SONY NEX-E mount.

It's been disassembled and reassembled as shown in photo 4. The lens section has an m39 cap attached, but the screw section is glued and fixed with an m39 to m42 metal adapter, providing solid strength. It goes through a Pentax intermediate ring, an Oasis helicoid ring (originally purchased for over 10,000 yen), an intermediate ring (a rubber ring is glued for easy lens removal), and finally an m42 to SONY NEX-E metal mount adapter. (This allows it to be attached to other cameras as well.)

The lens shutter is fixed in the B position with thread, keeping the shutter open.

The aperture operates smoothly from f4.5 to f22.

Focusing is done via front element rotation, but due to its difficulty and long minimum focusing distance, an Oasis helicoid is installed. This helicoid moves very smoothly, making focusing very easy. The minimum focusing distance is approximately 80cm.

Focusing can also be done with the front element, but the helicoid is superior for quick focusing. It is also made to achieve perfect infinity focus.

When viewed with a penlight, the lens is clean with no dust, haze, or mold, but upon close inspection, there are only a few very slight cleaning marks on the front element surface. They are barely noticeable to the naked eye.

Photos taken with a SONY α7II, using color STD with no correction, are included at the end. To show the lens's characteristics, they were deliberately shot in backlight. Old Angenieux lenses all produce strong flare in backlight, so a lens hood is essential (it results in a completely different photo). However, I think the slightly flared, pastel-toned photos, achieved by shading with a hand, are characteristic of Angenieux.

The camera settings were aperture-priority auto, with shutter release permitted, and shot at f8.
