Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1940. After graduating from Kuwasawa Design School and working at Light Publicity, he established Katsumi Asaba Design Office in 1975. His representative works include Suntory "Yume Kaido," Seibu Department Store "Oishii Seikatsu," Takeda Pharmaceutical's "Alinamin A," and the logo mark for Issey Miyake, among others. He has received numerous awards, including the Japan Academy Prize, the Tokyo ADC Grand Prize, the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon, the Order of the Rising Sun, and the Yusaku Kamekura Award. He is a member of the Tokyo ADC, the chairman of the Tokyo TDC, a director of JAGDA, the 10th principal of Kuwasawa Design School, and a visiting professor at Tokyo Zokei University, Kyoto Seika University, and Aomori University. He is a sixth-dan in table tennis.
